In Belvedere’s inaugural matinée concert we explore the idea of rückblick, or the sense of longing and looking back. This afternoon concert commences with Corigliano’s contemplative Fancy on a Bach Air and is followed by Martinu’s viola sonata - a poignant remembrance of the composer’s Bohemian roots. We conclude with the Brahms C minor piano quartet, a passionate and emotional outpouring that earned it the “Werther” moniker.
